Columbia Valley
Scottish Knights of Saint Andrew

Knight Emeritus Jewel
This jewel is bestowed upon those Scottish Rite members, who are Knights of St. Andrew, that have gone above and beyond in service to the Valley, the Orient of South Carolina, and the Supreme Council. Their dedication and service to the craft inspires others to perform at their best, and make their Valley successful.
"The Deputy and his Two Knights"
On November 5, 2022, Michael J. Broom, 33°, Deputy of the Supreme Council for the Orient of South Carolina, along with John F. Howell, 32° KSA, Senior Warden, and Julian Bevel, 32° KSA, Venerable Master for Columbia Valley Knights of Saint Andrew, began working on a unique project.

The Deputy tasked the two Knights to create a jewel that would represent: a hard-working, diligent, and dedicated Scottish Rite Mason.

Sir Knights John F. Howell and Julian Bevel decided to adopt the Deputy's state coin (Knights of St. Andrew side) and add the Royal Stewart Tartan that Columbia Valley implemented. John F. Howell then suggested that the Rosy Cross should be in the center of the ribbon. Julian Bevel then suggested having a decorative engraving plate above the ribbon that should say "Knights of St. Andrew of SC" and "Knight Emeritus" on the face of the coin.

Both Knights presented the concept to the Deputy, Michael J. Broom, which was immediately approved. Julian Bevel contacted John Bridegroom, owner of The Master's Craft, to create this unique jewel. And thus, this jewel is bestowed upon you, in honor, of your valiant efforts, dedication and service to Scottish Rite Masonry of the Orient of South Carolina.
